I've just across this forum after searching the internet for more information on Rev Haslam, as we have just been to a local history afternoon in our village where he was mentioned................

We live in Buckenham!!! Very Happy Very Happy

Our interest was actually prompted by the reading of his description of his arrival into Buckenham via the ferry across the railway line and he makes a note of the gravel pit - which is now part of our land!!!

I've been fascinated to find photo's of Rev Haslam on here - our village historian didn't actually have any.

BTW - she lives in the old rectory!!!

So thankyou for the invaluable information on here - we would now just love to stumble across his books!!!

The extracts from Haslam's time in Buckenham are in his book Yet Not I.
These can be found on this site under books.
It would be good to view Haslam's comments, or which book these can be found in.

Just a note to thank you for making this material available - I am preaching on Luke 5:27-39 on Sunday and William Haslam's conversion is a great illustration!

I would like to add my thank you to Charles and Casiat for your comments. It would be good to visit Norfolk sometime - Some months ago I was looking at the old OS map for the area and was excited to note the gravel pit. I find it helpful to identify the actual places that he lived in - like the rectory, and saw - like the gravel pit.

As for his conversion, for me it ranks against the most unusual accounts that I have come across; and yet at the same time, whilst the circumstances and events were different, in the most important respect the same thing happened to me and to countless others.

Alasdair,

Have a look at the following link from Multimap.

It shows an aerial view of our house and the gravel pit.

You can then scan across and see the rest of Buckenham!!!

Ignore the red circle and look at the house just north of the railway line.

The pit is visible at the top of the picture between 12 & 1 o'clock!

regards

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! When I read about Billy Bray of Cornwall, I found the link to your website. What I found here, was completely new to me, it touched me deeply. Thank you for all the informations. I ordered the book immediately. Now I am looking forward to receiving a blessing from it for me and others here around. I have been to Cornwall in 1974, by then I didn't know about Billy Bray and William Haslam.May the Lord bless and touch everybody who reads about Rev. Haslam! Your Christian sister Eva from Hamm, Germany
